During this one-day workshop you’ll learn to weave your own small round basket suitable as a fruit bowl/ bread/ berry picking basket with locally grown willow in a range of colours. We will cover a range of basketry skills and techniques including preparing and selecting willow, making a base, staking up, pairing, waling and if there’s time you will be able to add a simple handle to your basket. You will leave with a basket and the skills to know how to make another one at home. This course is suitable for complete beginners. If you have a sharp pair of secateurs do bring them along. Basket making can be tough on the hands so not suitable for anyone with arthritis.
